Rev. Josias Mudenda, a former Bishop of the Bulawayo District of the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe, is the National Director for Evangelism and Missions for the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe.

Before joining the ministry, he worked as a primary school teacher, attaining a Certificate in Education at Gwanda ZIMTEC and taught at schools in Binga district in the Zambezi valley. He holds a Diploma in Religious Studies (University of Zimbabwe), Diploma in Theology (United College of Education), an Advanced Certificate with the Institute of Industrial, Commercial and Business Chaplaincy of Zimbabwe. He also attended the Christian Leadership Institute (European Seminary) and the Haggai Institute for Advanced Leadership Skills for which he also holds a certificate.

Rev. Mudenda has served in various leadership capacities within the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe from superintendent of circuits, connexional secretary for evangelism, district bishop and director for evangelism. His passion and calling for evangelism has seen him being appointed in positions to do with evangelism at Connexional (national) level three times (Connexional Secretary for Evangelism 1994 -2000; Director for Evangelism in the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe 2001 – 2003 and the National Director for Evangelism and Missions 2007 to date).

Rev. Mudenda has served on the following boards as chairperson: Nyaminyami Nutrition Trust, Methodist Church in Zimbabwe Publications and Research Unit, Providence Orphans Care Project and Mustard Seed Orphan Care Project. He has served on the Tonga Literature Production Team as secretary, has been a board member for Multi – Ministries, has been a trustee of the Mayor’s Christmas Fund (Bulawayo City Council), has been the Southern Region Coordinator for Operation Christmas Child, and a committee member of Rotary International.

In 2010, he conducted the marriage service for the Prime Minister’s daughter Rumbidzai Tsvangirai.

Currently, he is a member of the Advisory Council for the United College of Education and a board member of the Marah Empowerment Centre, which consists of Christian Agriculture Training College, a skills-training centre for women in difficult circumstances and an interdenominational prayer centre. He is married with one daughter.
