PROPHETIC Healing Deliverance (PHD) Ministry founder Walter Magaya has threatened to stop financially backing the national soccer team after the interim coach Norman Mapedza he refused to attend his church service.
The PHD leader sponsored the national side, providing accommodation and training facilities at his hotel in preparation for Sunday’s game against Liberia. The warriors won 3-0.
The preacher was however reportedly not amused after coach Mapeza failed to attend a church services at PHD ministries after the game.
Mapeza is reported to have indicated that he was leaving for his Zvishavane base. “If hosting the national team causes a problem whereby even the head coach is not happy I then may be unable to continue,” Magaya told a local radio station on Monday.
“Not because I cannot afford it but because I do not want to cause any commotion or any problems. “It must be a choice for someone to be part of us and my aim is never to cause havoc but to cause peace and love.”
He continued; “I respect the head coach of the national team and I salute him for the win. I give it all to him and he has done very well.
“But, for the record, we are a family and we think the family did good by coming to the church.
“But the failure to come to the church by the head of church and what I heard he said at the gate shows that maybe I have made a mistake and I would not want to continue doing that.
“So, for next time (and) until I speak to the president of ZIFA and the team manager, my decision is I don’t want to disturb them again or their peace.”
