MEMBERS of the Full Gospel Assembly International (Fugai) were left stranded yesterday after Zanu PF elbowed them out of Chikangwe Community Hall they had booked for their church service.

The church members had to look for an alternative venue after Zanu PF and police insisted that the venue was reserved for the ruling party’s primary elections.

Church leader Marvellous Mutota said: “We paid $27 for our two-hour service on the understanding that the political meeting was to be held outside the hall. Welfare officer Usavi gave us the greenlight to use the facility as per our payment. However, we have been barred to use the hall without explanation from council. When we spoke to them they dragged their feet over the last minute change of arrangements,” Mutota said.

Efforts to get a comment from Karoi town clerk Wellington Mutikani were fruitless.
