The seminary to most people is a place where aspiring priests are quietly inducted into theology and scriptural studies, full stop.

The Roman Catholic Chishawasha seminary is venturing into research and reflections through a journal Vera Humanitas (True Humanity) which is the first publication of such kind since the seminary was formed in1936. The first edition was published in December 2011, with the assistance of Misereor, the German Catholic Bishops’ Organisation for Development Cooperation.

The editor of the journal Francis Mudungwe:

Vera Humanitas is a thematic journal which seeks to provide a platform for scholarly discourse on topical and pertinent social health issues. This involves matters to do with HIV/AIDS, gender discrimination, human rights, child abuse, socio-political and economic marginality, ecology and theology.

The first edition published last December is titled, “AIDS-free generation: A possibility or a Utopian ideal?”
