At least 72 lay Catholics who spent the last year attending Saturday lectures at Holy Trinity College graduated with certificates of attendance at a Mass celebrated by Fr Muguti from the Zimbabwe Catholic Bishops Conference’s Pontifical Mission office here in Harare.
The graduates had kind words for the initiative provided by Holy Trinity College where lay Catholics are introduced to Theology as a discipline of study, therefore enhancing their understanding of faith.
Speaking on behalf of the graduating students, Mr Samakomva, from Rhodesville parish said, “The course just concluded here was introduced as a response to the probing of the Holy Spirit”. He commended the life changing courses offered and the impact the course had on the laity, better placing them at a vantage point in the work of supporting the Church in evangelization and ministry.
Delivering a speech on behalf of Holy Trinity College, Fr Magwidi said reiterated the same sentiments, appreciating the commitment and response of the participants, now that they have been empowered, that they become true witnesses in matters of faith, morals and scripture. They were sent out to evangelize their families, communities and be agents of growth in the Church.
Modules covered included; Introduction to Theology, Introduction to Sacred Scripture, Introduction to Moral Theology, African Independent Churches, Old and New Testament themes, Theology and practice of Prayer, Courtship and Marriage as well as The Vocation and Ministry of the Laity.
