Parishioners of Our Lady of the Wayside processed from Mt. Pleasant down 2nd Street.

The cross outside the Roman Catholic Cathedral was shrouded for Good Friday.

Carrying large crosses, Catholics from several Harare parishes processed for hours in the annual Good Friday commemoration of Jesus’ path to his crucifixion.

Starting early morning in their home parishes, groups of several hundred prayerfully walked from different suburbs to meet at 11 a.m. outside the Dominican Convent for a concluding service. Along the way, the pilgrims sang and stopped periodically to celebrate the Stations of the Cross with readings and responses in Shona and English.

This local traditions takes place each year on Good Friday with the assistance of local police who direct traffic to give the processions space and protection as they walk on the roads.
