Newsday reports that a Nigerian Christian prophet TB Joshua has donated an assortment of goodies to inmates at Khami Maximum Prison as part of his 48th birthday commemorations.

The donation was handed to the inmates by Zimbabwe Emmanuel TV friends and well-wishers on Saturday.

Joshua, who leads the Synagogue Church of All Nations and Emmanuel TV channel broadcasting from Lagos, turned 48 on Sunday.

A representative of the group, Sitheni Moyo said: “We are celebrating the birthday of the man of God. During birthdays, people expect presents from others.

“But Prophet Joshua says during his birthday gifts meant for him must go to the needy. Thus as Friends of Emmanuel TV, we decided to donate to Khami Maximum Prison.”

She said the television sets were meant to encourage the prisoners to watch Emmanuel TV “so that their spirits are up lifted and they realise that being in jail is not the end of life”.
