We were about to reprint Clayton Masekesa’s juicy article “Christians during the day, hookers by night” that appeared last month in The Standard when I routinely googled one of his source’s names. The search revealed to me that a story about Mutare sex workers hit the media already in 2010.

In fact, the 2010 story in The Zimbabwean “A new wave of sophisticated prostitution emerges” cited more sources and discussed more in detail the ‘news’ from The Standard‘s reporter. News in reverse, to put it short!

Two thoughts: to Clayton Masekesa, I can recommend Makandiwa‘s lecture on laziness:

My second thought — when the mainstream media are not fulfilling their duty, citizen journalists where are you? Any ideas what really happens with the church-going prostitutes in Mutare these days? Any news?
