The talking bird that recently caused confusion at Mbare Musika market in Harare has reached Chipinge in southeastern Zimbabwe. Immaculate Chirunga (33) said the bird is with traditional healer Sekuru Mudapaviri Ndoro.

Chirunga, a cross-border trader from Dzivarasekwa suburb  who was stopped with the bird, claimed, “I was attacked by a strong wind that confused me when I arrived at Birchenough Bridge at around 3 am the following day. I later opened my eyes the bird had disappeared.”

Chirunga got to know Sekuru Ndoro through her boyfriend, who was attacked by the weird birds before he died.

Chirunga said she had been robbed of her bags of clothing and she sought the help of Sekuru Ndoro who worked his magic leading to the return of the goods.

The woman said when she got the money from the thieves she put aside the USD350 demanded by the n’anga (traditional healer) on the bed and went to the toilet. When she came back the money was gone and a bird was sitting there. “I phoned the n’anga and told him that the money was gone. He said the money had been taken by  the bird. He said I should take the bird to Birchenough Bridge and leave it there.”

She said she was on her way to Birchenough Bridge when the bird started talking at Mbare Musika. “While waiting for the bus, I told my brother what had happened. He said I should have consulted other family members about this. That is when the bird said to him ‘You were not there when we started this journey.”

Hearing this her brother fled and a crowd gathered around her. Chirunga was taken to the police station and later released.
